Building AI Assistants with Claude Projects: From Theory to Practice

I've been creating videos breaking down different AI tools I use daily. Last week was NotebookLM, this week it's Claude's Projects feature. But before diving into my specific workflow, let's talk about the bigger picture.

The Current State of AI Tools

Most teams interact with AI through single conversations - writing prompts, getting responses, and starting fresh each time. This means constantly re-explaining context, guidelines, and preferences. Whether you're drafting emails, creating content, or writing documentation, you're repeating yourself to AI tools dozens of times a day.

Why Projects Matter

Projects isn't revolutionary technology. It's simply a way to maintain context in your AI conversations. Instead of rebuilding context in every chat, you can create dedicated spaces where Claude remembers your guidelines, examples, and preferences.

This is relevant across different types of work:

  • Writing consistent customer communications
  • Creating aligned content
  • Maintaining documentation
  • Developing standard responses

How I Use Projects: A Video Demo

Let me walk you through what I demonstrated in this week's video:

Projects Setup

  1. Create a new Project
  2. Add context by uploading documents or adding text directly
  3. Use custom instructions to guide Claude's responses

I showed this using album prospecting as an example. Projects helps maintain context across your conversations instead of starting fresh each time.

Creating and Saving Content

  • Ask Claude to create content based on your context
  • Review the generated content
  • Save useful outputs as artifacts within your Project for future reference

Mobile and Voice Features

Claude now offers:

  • Mobile app access
  • Voice dictation capabilities
  • Easy access to your Projects on the go

Why This Matters

Rather than feeding context into every conversation, Projects lets you maintain that context over time. This means more consistent outputs and less repetitive setup work.

Next Up

Next week I'll break down another tool from my stack. There are plenty of AI tools out there - the key is understanding how they fit into real daily workflows.
